The Power of Gratitude

By Ron Skeen

There is a metaphysical principle that can be stated thusly:

Those things for which we are sincerely grateful to God tend to increase in our experience.

Are you experiencing financial lack? Does it seem that there is not enough money to pay the bills at the first of the month? Then write "Thank You God" on every check. Silently say "Thank You God" when you hand money to a clerk, or when you sign a charge slip. It may seem silly, embarrassing, or hypocritical at first, but after a while you will begin to experience the abundance that is truly ours as "Children of the Most High."

Also, as paradoxical as it seems, tithing tends to increase wealth. Contributing a definite amount of money or time, on a regular basis, to an organization from which you receive spiritual nourishment attracts more good to you.

The same principle applies to other areas of our lives. Do you sometimes feel lonely? Thank God for those loyal friends you have and your circle of friends will grow.

Do you worry? Thank God regularly for those moments when you experience peace of mind and those moments will occur more often.

Do you face physical or health challenges? Thank God for the ability to do the things you are able to do and you will find that you are able to do even more.

When I first began practicing the metaphysical principles taught in Science Of Mind most of my prayers were prayers of petition, asking God for things I felt I lacked. Now most of my prayers are prayers of thanksgiving because I realize God has already provided abundantly for all my needs.
